Even though VCF is not a new product, you might just be getting started to learn about it. This summary can help you orientate yourself.
Official trainings
Let’s start with official trainings. There are two (one, actually) official trainings available on mylearn platform. One is the Plan and Deploy, which is listed but there is no schedule available. The second is VMware Cloud Foundation: Planning, Management, Operations, which includes the topics of the other training. This one is available with multiple choices like Instructor led training or on-demand. Price is around 3000 Eur. The course is recommended for experienced users, and requires completion of the followings:
- VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage
- VMware NSX-T Data Center: Install, Configure, Manage
- VMware vSAN: Management and Operations

Videos and Docs
For VCF design/deploy you need a good basic understanding of the system (vSphere, NSX, vSAN). It doesn’t hurt if we know one thing or two about design and we are familiar with the current and previous versions of VMware Validated Design. We can also make use of the Cloud Platform Tech Zone (not only about VCF topics). It contains documentations and learning videos classified in different categories,

Hands-on Labs
This gives you a great opportunity to learn, get to know VCF and browse available labs. At this time there are 7 VCF related labs available. These take us through the steps of installation and tasks related to operation.

Certification
There is only one VCF related certification/badge available, which is: VMware Certified Specialist – Cloud Foundation.
To have this badge there are two requirements, which are the followings: VCP-DCV certification is a must have, and participation on one of the official trainings.
Currently two exams avalable:
VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist v2 (5V0-31.22) és VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist (5V0-31.20)
The previous exam – 5V0-31.20 – is available until 2023 January 1. ,After that only the v2 exam will be available.
